Prior to interfacing the Wireless dongle, disassociate your AT/NT1100 from the phone as the motorcycle will prompt you to connect repeatedly (especially on Android devices), yet disregard it and only link to the 'smartBox-****

To use a wireless Android Auto or Apple CarPlay dongle on the Honda NT1100 (or Africa Twin with TFT display), it is necessary to first pair a compatible Bluetooth intercom (e.g., Sena, Cardo, etc.) via the bike’s TFT screen.

The HSVCS (Honda RoadSync) system requires a paired audio device in order to complete the initial dongle setup. Without this connection, the system will prevent the configuration process from proceeding.

✅ Recommended steps:

1- Pair your Bluetooth intercom through the bike’s TFT display before starting the dongle setup.

2- Complete the dongle setup with the intercom connected.

3- After setup, the dongle will operate normally with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

The Honda dealer will say that an intercom must always be connected for Android Auto/CarPlay to work. However, we have a solution to bypass this limitation.

🔄 Alternative if no intercom is available:

If an intercom is not available at the time:

- You may temporarily use a Bluetooth speaker or other audio device.

- Pair this device to the bike during the initial dongle setup.

- Once setup is complete, the Bluetooth device can be removed without affecting the dongle’s functionality.

Note: This method may not function with recent firmware updates on your AT/NT, so retaining a Bluetooth device saved is necessary, even if not actively turned On, to outsmart the Honda RoadSync system.

Android 11 and above.

Turn on the Bluetooth of the Phone, search for the Bluetooth Device naming "smartBox-****".

After the Connection please wait for a few seconds and Android Auto interface will be shown.

Note: If a message appears stating 'A Bluetooth headset is required to enable Android Auto' disregard the Intercom and attempt to pair them again from the Motorcycle Settings Menu.

iOS 12.1 and above

Turn on the Bluetooth of the iPhone, search for the Bluetooth Device naming "smartBox-****"  Pair it and allow the sync, finally click "Use CarPlay"

For the last iOS versions, make sure if the "Connect to Carplay" pop-up appears,
If it doesn't, navigate to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Allowed Apps. If Content & Privacy Restrictions is off, CarPlay will be allowed. If it's on, you need to ensure the CarPlay toggle is green (enabled).

Note: It's important to select 'Remember My Choice' and press ENABLE when you see this screen for about 3 seconds. This screen will appear only when the dongle is configured for the first time.
If this option does not appear, ensure that the Intercom is correctly paired with the motorcycle.

Without this option enabled, you might encounter issues when switching between Motorcycle Dashboard and Carplay.

After the Connection please wait for a few seconds and CarPlay interface will be shown.

Important: If the Handlebar Page button does not return to the Carplay Menu, click on the Clock and in the next option select the "Apple Carplay" option.

After this procedure, the Page button should work normally.

How to reset the device?

1 - Connect the dongle directly to a 5V USB power source, such as a mobile phone charger or a car USB port. (Do not use the computer's USB port)
⚠️ Do not use the AT/NT1100's USB port.

2 - On your phone, search for WiFi devices and connect to "smartBox-****" on your Phone using the Password: 88888888

Important steps for Android phones:

3 - Open your internet browser and enter the IP address: 192.168.1.101
Click on "Factory Reset", wait 5 seconds and the dongle will be restarted,

Note: After successful Reset, forget the Wi-Fi network "smartBox-****" on your phone.
