Android Auto doesn’t work on Samsung Galaxy phones
Android Auto suddenly stopped working (or never connects) when you use a Samsung Galaxy phone in your car.
❓ Cause
This issue often appears right after a monthly Samsung security patch update. It is a known issue on Samsung devices and usually affects the Android Auto app installation.
✅ Method 1 – Quick reset (4 steps)
-
Step 1
Go to Settings → Apps → Android Auto and tap Force stop. -
Step 2
Still in Android Auto, tap Storage and then Clear data (confirm when asked). -
Step 3
Go back to the Android Auto app info screen and tap Disable (or Force disable, if available). -
Step 4
Open the Google Play Store, search for Android Auto, tap Uninstall updates, then Enable (if needed) and finally Update to install the latest version.
🧩 Method 2 – Revert Android Auto to the factory version
If Method 1 doesn’t solve the problem, you can follow these steps (as shown in the screenshots) to completely remove the updates and go back to the factory version of Android Auto:
-
Step 1
Open the phone Settings and tap Apps. -
Step 2
Tap See all apps (for example: See all apps). -
Step 3
Scroll down, find and tap Android Auto to open the App info screen. -
Step 4
On the top right corner, tap the three dots ⋮ menu and choose Uninstall updates. -
Step 5
A message will appear asking to replace the app with the factory version. Tap OK to confirm.
