Android Auto doesn’t work on Samsung Galaxy phones

Android Auto suddenly stopped working (or never connects) when you use a Samsung Galaxy phone in your car.

Cause

This issue often appears right after a monthly Samsung security patch update. It is a known issue on Samsung devices and usually affects the Android Auto app installation.

Method 1 – Quick reset (4 steps)

  1. Step 1
Go to Settings → Apps → Android Auto and tap Force stop.
  2. Step 2
Still in Android Auto, tap Storage and then Clear data (confirm when asked).
  3. Step 3
Go back to the Android Auto app info screen and tap Disable (or Force disable, if available).
  4. Step 4
Open the Google Play Store, search for Android Auto, tap Uninstall updates, then Enable (if needed) and finally Update to install the latest version.

🧩 Method 2 – Revert Android Auto to the factory version

If Method 1 doesn’t solve the problem, you can follow these steps (as shown in the screenshots) to completely remove the updates and go back to the factory version of Android Auto:

  1. Step 1
Open the phone Settings and tap Apps.
  2. Step 2
Tap See all apps (for example: See all apps).
  3. Step 3
Scroll down, find and tap Android Auto to open the App info screen.
  4. Step 4
On the top right corner, tap the three dots ⋮ menu and choose Uninstall updates.
  5. Step 5
A message will appear asking to replace the app with the factory version. Tap OK to confirm.
After these methods: reconnect your phone to the AT/NT1100 using the wireless dongle. In most cases, Android Auto will start working again immediately. If needed, you can then open the Google Play Store and update Android Auto to the latest version.
