Android Auto / Apple CarPlay Instructions
Complete setup guide for Android and iPhone
⚠️ BEFORE YOU START
Prepare the motorcycle and headset
Complete these steps before pairing the 3DMP-Explorer with your Android phone or iPhone.
!
Important pairing order
Pair the intercom with the motorcycle first. Do not pair the intercom directly with the phone during the initial setup.
🎧 Headset / intercom connection
✅ Checklist before setup
📱
Delete or unpair “Honda Motorcycle #****” from your phone.
🔇
Delete or unpair the intercom from your phone.
🎧
Pair the intercom with the motorcycle TFT first.
➡️
Only after the intercom is paired should you continue with the Android or iPhone instructions.
💡
Tip
Following this order helps prevent duplicate Bluetooth entries and first-time pairing failures.
- On the motorcycle, go to Home → Settings → Bluetooth.
- Set Bluetooth to ON.
- Select Headset Pairing → + Add a device.
- Put your Cardo, Sena, or other intercom into pairing mode.
- Select the headset name on the Honda screen and confirm with ENT.
- Select Rider for the rider’s headset or Passenger for the passenger’s headset.

⚠️ Why is this required?
Honda requires a paired headset for phone calls, Siri or Google voice commands, and full Apple CarPlay or Android Auto functionality.
🔊 Volume
• The motorcycle stores separate volume levels for Music, Phone, Voice, CarPlay, Android Auto, and Microphone.
• Adjust the volume while the relevant audio mode is active, or go to Settings → Volume.
🔄 Alternative when no intercom is available
• You may temporarily use a Bluetooth speaker or another compatible audio device.
• Pair that device with the motorcycle during the initial setup.
• After setup, the Bluetooth device may be switched off while the saved pairing remains. This workaround is not guaranteed: on some motorcycles, the device may need to remain switched on.

🖥️ Dongle startup screen
When you connect the dongle to the motorcycle, the screen shown below should appear. This confirms that the device has started correctly and is ready for Bluetooth pairing with your phone.
🤖 Android Instructions
Android Auto • Android 13 and later
✓
Compatibility
Android 13 or later is required.
!
Delete the old Honda pairing first
Before pairing “3DMP-Explorer-****”, make sure that “Honda Motorcycle #****” has been deleted from your phone.

After deleting “Honda Motorcycle #****”, the motorcycle may repeatedly try to reconnect to your phone. Tap “Cancel” on the phone and “No” on the motorcycle.

When you open the Bluetooth settings, you will normally see two devices:
- Honda Motorcycle #****
- 3DMP-Explorer-****
- Tap “3DMP-Explorer-****”.
- If the pairing pop-up shows “Honda Motorcycle”, tap “Cancel”.
- Tap “3DMP-Explorer-****” again.
-
Only tap “Pair” when the pop-up clearly shows “3DMP-Explorer”. Cancel every other pairing request.

✓
Connection complete
Wait a few seconds. The Android Auto interface should appear automatically.
⚠
Headset message appears
If the message “A Bluetooth headset is required to enable Android Auto” appears, return to the motorcycle’s Bluetooth settings, confirm that the headset is paired, and repeat the dongle pairing process.
🍎 iPhone Instructions
Apple CarPlay • iOS 12.1 and later
✓
Compatibility
iOS 12.1 or later is required.
- Turn on Bluetooth on your iPhone.
- In the Bluetooth device list, select “3DMP-Explorer-****”.
- Tap “Pair” and allow contact or data synchronisation when requested.
- When the CarPlay message appears, tap “Connect”.
⚠
The “Connect” pop-up does not appear
On recent iOS versions, check that CarPlay is permitted under Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions → Allowed Apps & Features.
If Content & Privacy Restrictions is disabled, CarPlay is permitted. If it is enabled, make sure that CarPlay is switched on.

!
Do not miss this confirmation screen
Switch “Remember My Choice” to ON, then press “ENABLE”. This screen normally appears only during the first dongle configuration.
⏱️ The screen is displayed only briefly. If you do not have enough time to enable the option, restart the motorcycle and try again.
Without “Remember My Choice” enabled, switching between the Honda dashboard and CarPlay may not work correctly.
✓
Connection complete
Wait a few seconds. The Apple CarPlay interface should appear automatically.
!
PAGE button does not return to CarPlay
If the handlebar PAGE button does not return to the CarPlay screen, the intercom is probably not correctly paired with the motorcycle. Honda may then activate a safety restriction that prevents CarPlay from being used.
Check the headset pairing in the motorcycle’s Bluetooth menu and repeat the setup. Once the headset is correctly connected, the PAGE button should work normally.
Controls
Function lever & PAGE switch
Use the left handlebar controls to switch between the Honda screen and CarPlay / Android Auto without touching the TFT.
