Cardo / Sena pairing with Honda

Connect your headset to your Honda Africa Twin 1100 or NT1100 and check your music, navigation and call audio.

Start with the right pairing mode

Pair the headset with the Honda’s Bluetooth headset connection. On the headset, use the pairing procedure specified for your exact model and the type of device you are connecting.

Cardo and Sena do not always use the same names or button sequences. GPS, TFT, second-phone and phone pairing are not automatically interchangeable.

CARDO

Connecting a Cardo

Check your model’s manual for its TFT / motorcycle dashboard pairing instructions. Some models distinguish TFT pairing from GPS pairing.

  • If a dedicated TFT option is documented, follow that procedure for the motorcycle display.
  • Use GPS or second-device pairing only as described for your model and setup.
  • Do not use rider-to-rider intercom pairing to connect to the Honda display.

PACKTALK, FREECOM and SPIRIT models can have different controls and available modes. Use the matching manual below.

SENA

Connecting a Sena

Check the manual for your exact Sena model before selecting a pairing mode. It may describe Phone Pairing, Second Mobile Phone Pairing and GPS Pairing separately.

  • Do not assume that GPS Pairing is the correct choice for every motorcycle display.
  • Phone Pairing is not automatically incorrect: the Sena 20S EVO manual, for example, specifies it for a GPS used as a stereo music source.
  • Use the manufacturer’s instructions for your model and verify both call audio and music after pairing.

For helmet-specific systems, use that system’s own manual rather than copying button sequences from another Sena unit.

A connected call does not confirm working audio

If the call appears on the Honda display but you cannot hear the caller, check the active headset connection and audio route. Pairing mode is one possible cause; volume, competing Bluetooth connections and device settings also need checking.

Pairing, step by step

Complete the setup and audio checks while parked.

  1. Check your exact modelFind its official guide and identify the pairing procedure for the motorcycle display or the required audio connection.
  2. Remove a failed or outdated pairingIf you are troubleshooting, delete the old headset entry from the Honda. Follow the headset manual to clear the corresponding pairing if needed.
  3. Activate pairing on the headsetUse the Cardo or Sena procedure for your model. Wait for its pairing prompt or indicator.
  4. Add the headset on the HondaOpen the motorcycle’s Bluetooth headset menu and select your unit. Confirm that the rider headset is connected.
  5. Connect your phoneFollow your usual CarPlay / Android Auto setup instructions. Confirm that the headset remains connected to the motorcycle.
  6. Check every audio functionTest music, navigation and a call. Confirm that you hear the caller and that the caller hears your microphone.

Still no call audio?

  1. Confirm that the rider headset shows as connected on the Honda.
  2. Check the call’s audio destination and adjust call volume during an active test call.
  3. Temporarily disconnect a direct phone-to-headset connection to check whether it is taking the audio away from the motorcycle.
  4. Recheck the pairing procedure in your model’s manual, then remove and recreate the pairing if necessary.
  5. Restart the headset, phone and motorcycle system, then repeat the audio checks.

Official Cardo manuals

Select your exact model for pairing commands and available Bluetooth modes.

Official Sena manuals

Find your exact model in Sena’s support centre. For an integrated helmet system, check the helmet manufacturer’s documentation as well.

The 20S EVO example is model-specific. It is not a universal procedure for all Sena headsets.
